“I chose to do this course as it meant that I was continuing my learning with the same tutors I had before who create a comfortable environment here at the College. I enjoy the specification; it is very holistic and not a ‘tick box’ curriculum. Instead, everyone has their own learning journey and personal creative processes - there’s a lot of freedom. I really like the projects where you are given an overarching theme and then choose your own pathway and interpretation of it.”
“The facilities here are really good; there’s sewing machines, a print room, ceramics room and Mac suite which are all available to students. The space is set up so that everyone has their own desk space all year round which makes it easy to focus on work and peer assess each other which I find important. We have been on several trips such as to the York Art Gallery. If we have any ideas for trips such as exhibitions we know of, we can suggest these to the tutors who will then plan the visit and take the class. I would really recommend this course and Wakefield College as it is a really supportive environment, especially for autistic learners, like me, who may have alternative requirements. I would like to stay at the College to complete a Bachelor’s degree and go on to teaching or art therapy.”
