Last week the Automotive department at Castleford College received another vehicle for its highly popular HGV provision kindly donated by Wakefield Council and YPO. Wakefield Council currently employs three of Wakefield College’s HGV Apprentices at the Transport Services Newton Bar Depot. Two of the apprentices, Cameron Pope and Elliot Barr, were there to receive the vehicle from Wakefield Council Transport Operations Manager, Brendan McNamara, and Adrian Field, Logistics at YPO along with Head of Curriculum, Graham Sherwin, Assistant Head, Sean Casey, and Curriculum Development Manager, Gareth Mitchell for Engineering & Automotive Studies at Wakefield College.
Gareth said, “This is a great addition to our growing fleet of HGV vehicles, we are always grateful to Wakefield Council and YPO for the support they show our department taking on apprentices and offering valuable donations such as this.”
Wakefield Council Transport Operations Manager Brendan added “It’s great to know Wakefield’s Apprentice Mechanics and other local learners are benefiting from the excellent training and facilities that the college has to offer; having the HGV vehicle onsite will allow them and others in years to come to develop their various hands-on inspection, service and maintenance techniques. Our apprentices represent the future of our industry.”
