Preparing our students for the real world of work is key to their success when they complete their studies. Only with the help and support of our employer partners can we do this, and ensure that the skills, knowledge and behaviours they exhibit are those essential for the sectors they are wishing to enter.
It is important that our students learn first-hand the operations of businesses within their chosen sector. We understand the value of employer contribution and the positive impact it has on young people. Our students will be the workforce of the future and as such we need employer input to mould their skills to what is needed.
A good work placement provides vital employability skills and context to learning for a student, but have you considered how a placement can help support your business?
- Fresh eyes on a problem
- Up-to-date and current knowledge of an industry
- The ability to view products and services from the client/customer perspective
- Experience of the digital environment
Various models of work placement are available and our team can support you to assess the needs of your business and help match you with the most appropriate learner.
If you would like to engage and support the next generation, please take a look at the options below:
Option 1
T Levels
A mandatory 315 hours (750 hours for early years) in an industry placement is needed for students to complete their chosen Technical Level course. T Levels provide young people with the skills and knowledge they need to get a head start towards their future career, whilst supporting organisations in the following ways:
- Helps nurture and develop future talent for your business.
- Provides cost effective recruitment for entry level jobs and apprenticeships.
- Brings in people with imaginative new ideas and different skills.
- Upskills your staff with the chance to mentor a young person.
- Provides an extra resource for specific projects.
- Increases capacity.
A designated work placement officer will support with planning the timeline and objectives of the industry placement and be available from start to finish, whenever needed. The placement allows the student to put into practice the knowledge they have learned in the classroom.

Option 2
Mandatory Work Placements
Courses with mandatory work placements vary in hours, dependent upon the course being studied. If you are able to support a student 1 or 2 days per week and provide them with a rounded understanding of your business and sector, then please get in touch via email at
Option 3
5-Day Work Placements
Students who do not have mandatory work placement hours as part of their course would still benefit from engaging on placement days. They do not have to achieve any set number of hours, but if you could support a student for 5 days, that would have a hugely positive impact on their learning and understanding of the sector.
Option 4
Work Experience
All students require employer engagement, regardless of their level or sector of study. Not all engagement needs to be a work placement and if you are able to support in any of the following ways, please do get in touch:
Opportunity | Time | Overview |
Guest Talk | 1hr | Talk about your business, your sector and/or your projects. Your team could even come in and talk about a typical day in their job role. |
Masterclass | 1-2hrs | Could you carry out a masterclass in a particular technique in your field? This opportunity can be face to face or carried out online with the use of cameras placed in both your workplace and our classrooms. |
Critical Friend Visits | 1-2hrs | Come in and critique the practical work of our students, providing constructive feedback and advice on your sector. |
Site Visits | 1-3 hrs | Invite our students to come and look around your business. Whatever it may be - a construction site, a salon, a warehouse or a farm. If you can host our students and provide them with a tour and an explanation of your departments, we would love to come! |
Practical Taster | 1-3hrs | Students like nothing more than experiences off site. Are you able to provide a practical task for our students to attempt in your workplace/training centre. |
Virtual Opportunities | 1 hour | Speaking to students over Microsoft Teams, from your premises, can give students a feel for your environment. They are able to listen to the topic being presented and ask questions from their classroom, supported by their tutor. |
