Selby College’s sports teams have benefited from new sponsored kits thanks to the generosity of businesses CPI Corporate Solutions, Co-op, Classroom Clothing and McDonalds.
The College currently has a number of sports teams, including Football, Rugby, Basketball, Dodgeball, Indoor Cricket, Netball, Table Tennis and Volleyball.
CPI Corporate Solutions, of Sherburn, generously sponsored the College’s female Netball team’s kit, providing the team with a brand-new kit worth £350.
Mcdonald’s Selby Franchise also kind-heartedly contributed £250 towards the College’s Netball team hoodies.
Co-op’s Selby branch, based on Flaxley road and Classroom Clothing, of Finkle Street, also kindly donated £200 to help with kit sponsorship.
“After being unable to play for so long due to Covid-19 restrictions, it’s fantastic to see our sports teams up and running again this academic year. Playing sport not only has great physical benefits, it enables our students to meet new people and be a part of a community. They are also significantly benefitting from new training and sports kits which have been generously provided by local and national businesses, which myself, colleagues and our students are extremely grateful for,” said Matthew Duck, Lecturer in Sport and Public Services at Selby College.
Daniel Spooner, Director at CPI Corporate Solutions, said: “At CPI Corporate Solutions, we are always looking for ways to contribute to the local community. So, when Matthew approached us asking if we were able to help with donations for the College’s sports team kits, it was an easy decision for us to make. We hope that the students like the new kit and most importantly, continue playing and enjoying sport.”
The sports teams are coached by the College’s highly qualified and talented teaching staff.
The College offers a range of sports-based courses, from a Level 2 in Sports, Exercise and Fitness through to a BSc (Hons) Sports Coaching and Exercise Science course.
A number of partial sport scholarships are currently available for its BSc (Hons) Sports Coaching and Exercise Science course, making studying for a degree more affordable for those who are interested in studying sport.
