Life in the public services can be challenging, rewarding and exciting; we can provide you with the skills, knowledge and expertise to succeed.

Public Services at Selby College

Links with Public Services

Our department has strong links with local Emergency Services and the Armed Forces, with students attending Armistice Day events with the Army and visiting Carrgate West Yorkshire Police Training Centre, Strensall Army Barracks and Welton Waters Adventure Centre with the Royal Marines.

Guest Speakers

We regularly invite guest speakers to deliver talks to our students, including Emma Johnson from Humberside Police who spoke to students about her role and shared insights about how the Police promote equality and diversity, as well as how she handles key situations within our diverse society.

Residential Trips & Visits

It’s not all work and no play in the Public Services Department! Students have enjoyed a number of trips throughout their studies, including residentials to Rosedale Abbey, the Hole of Horcum and Pen-y-ghent.

Annual Awards Ceremony

As a Public Service student, you will be invited to the College’s Annual Sport & Public Services Awards which celebrate the successes of our sports teams and individual students from across the academic year.
